HITTING THE SOCIAL NETWORK
I'm a lifetime subscriber to National Geographic, and it was something I read in a recent article that inspired me to hit the social media ranks. In the July issue, an article titled "Drivers of Change" talks about how 41 percent of the United States population is under the age of 30. I then realized it was time to have a Facebook page. Please take a look and let me know what you think, and feel free to send a friend request.

LOOKING AHEAD
Greetings from Newport, R.I. It's been an extremely busy, productive and fun last couple of days being in meetings with my BIG EAST colleagues. We've had discussions on a lot of topics relevant to the future of the league, including scheduling, television and expansion. One of the more popular questions I've received since the announcement that we're joining the league is what our BIG EAST Conference football schedule will look like in 2012. We will have home games versus Cincinnati, Louisville, South Florida and West Virginia. Our road games will be at Connecticut, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Syracuse. The BIG EAST represents 30 percent of the nation's television homes. We're in a great position when we negotiate our next television package in September 2012. As far as future conference expansion, any move that is made down the road will keep in mind how important it is to preserve the history and tradition of basketball, the sport that truly launched the BIG EAST to where it is today. Adding to the mosaic of what the BIG EAST brings to the table is the legendary clambake at the league's Football Media Day. It truly lived up to everything I had heard about it in advance. It's going to be incredibly exciting to be a member of the BIG EAST Conference.

FOOTBALL SEASON NEARING

We're less than a month away from our football team officially reporting for preseason camp. Our first practice will be Aug. 4. Last year's Rose Bowl championship season was a memory of a lifetime. However, as Coach Patterson points out, we're 0-0 right now. It's a new team and new season. Your first official glance at our 2011 squad will be Saturday, Aug. 20, at Meet The Frogs.

THANK YOU!
Congratulations and a heartfelt thanks to all our Frog Club volunteers as well as our Frog Club board and staff for a job very well done on enabling us to enjoy a record-breaking year for the Frog Club. For the first time, we went over the $5 million mark in donations as well as topping 5,000 members. John Denton, our Frog Club director, and his incredible staff are certainly to be commended for their efforts in organizing such a dedicated group of loyal Frogs who made this happen. Our volunteer group and Board are amazing. This is what makes TCU special and is an incredible statement to our momentum and the pride being felt in TCU and the student-athletes representing us so well.

GREAT NEWS

We have just received an additional $10 million from one of our Founders on the Amon G. Carter Stadium renovation. This new gift for the east side puts us now at $143 million on the project. A special thanks to Chancellor Boschini, associate athletics director Davis Babb and football coach Gary Patterson for an incredible fundraising job in bringing us even closer to our dream of a fully completed stadium in time for the 2012 season.
