Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium

TCU's beautiful Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium, which was completed prior to the 2000 season, boasts 1,500 seats in a handsome, natural setting. It features both playing and workout spaces, a press box, ample parking and storage, a covered porch overlooking the field for hosting parties and youth teams, and even more room for expansion. But the facility is more than a state-of-the-art venue. It is a tangible indicator that TCU is serious about a sport that grows more popular in the United States each year and ranks as the world's number one sport.

In the spring of 2006, the soccer program got another lift with the addition of lights to the stadium, enabling the Frogs to play night games at home for the first time in school history. The four poles providing 50 foot candles of power will cover the field of play as well as the practice field.

The most recent upgrade at Garvey-Rosenthal was the installation of a new LED scoreboard.

"TCU asked us to make this gift, and we were happy to do so because the soccer stadium is a great enhancement to the school," said Rosalyn Rosenthal, who with her husband, E.M. "Manny" Rosenthal, made a $300,000 lead gift for the facility. "We hope it will help TCU develop a name in soccer."

Making the other lead gift of $250,000 for the project were James and Shirley Garvey, their son Richard Garvey and the Garvey Texas Foundation, longtime benefactors of the soccer program. The Garvey gift made possible the first steps of construction, resodding of the field and the move of the scoreboard to the new site.

"I went to TCU," remarked Richard Garvey. "My family has supported the program since 1978. We love the school. We love the program."
