The TCU women's volleyball program found a home in the University Recreation Center where the volleyball court was specifically designed for the Horned Frogs. Located across the street from the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and Ed & Rae Schollmaier Basketball Complex, the University Recreation Center provides an exciting and entertaining environment for the faithful of the Purple and White.
With a renovated locker room and athletic training facilities adjacent to the volleyball court, the University Recreation Center allows the Frogs to have everything that they need right at their fingertips. The University Recreation Center also provides the Frogs with a tremendous home-court advantage as the fans are right on top of the action on the court, which provides one of the most exciting atmospheres in the Mountain West Conference.
The University Recreation Center has become a dominant venue for the Frogs as the Purple and White has notched a 92-40 overall record (.697 winning percentage) on their home court since the renovations were completed prior to the 2003 season. The Frogs five 10-plus win seasons at home, including a school-record 14-4 mark during the 2007 season. Non-conference opponents have found the University Recreation Center one of the hardest places in the Southwest to steal a victory as the Frogs have notched a 44-15 mark (.746 winning percentage) since 2003.
While the win-total continues to rise for the Purple and White so as the attendance figures as TCU posted a school-record crowd for its non-conference tilt against Texas on Sept. 20, 2011. Over the last two seasons, Horned Frog fans have come out in record fashion. The 2011 season saw the Frogs rank 19th nationally in attendance with a school-record 1,734 fans per match. Nine of the top 10 crowds have been recorded in the last two seasons.
Highlighted by an LED boards along the end lines showcased in each home match for the Frogs, the University Recreation Center provides eight volleyball courts, including both intramural as well as sand volleyball courts.
The 225,000-square foot University Recreation Center was designed to promote healthy fitness to every student and facility member on the campus of TCU and includes a fitness center, locker rooms, cardio fitness area, racquetball courts, games area, indoor track, pool, multi-use rooms as well as a gymnasium and special events center, which seats over 1,900 spectators.
