FORT WORTH – TCU placekicker Jaden Oberkrom and Western rider Kolby Simonson have been named TCU’s Athletes of the Month for December. The duo is being recognized for their outstanding work on the field and in the classroom.
Oberkrom, a freshman from Arlington, wrapped up his outstanding debut campaign for the Horned Frogs with three field goals in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl against Michigan State. A Lou Groza Award semifinalist, Oberkrom’s three makes included a career-long 53-yard field goal. He finished the season making 22-of-30 field goal attempts, including 11-of-14 from at least 40 yards out, and a perfect 42-of-42 on extra point attempts. He is a Sports Psychology major.
Simonson, a senior from Durango, Colo., was named Big 12 Reining Rider of the Month for December. Simonson went 3-0 against Big 12 opposition in Reining. She was a National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Academic All-America second-team honoree, and is an Early Childhood Education major.
The TCU equestrian team will be back in action on Feb. 8 at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fla.
