FORT WORTH – For the second-straight year, the TCU Sports Network by IMG College has been recognized for providing the best live sports play-by-play call in the state of Texas for 2011, it was announced by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters.
The TCU radio crew, comprised of play-by-play voice Brian Estridge, color analyst John Denton and sideline reporter Jeff Williams, were honored for their call of TCU’s dramatic 36-35 win at Boise State.
"Our radio crew of Brian Estridge, John Denton and Jeff Williams continues to set the standard and make TCU proud,” TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Del Conte said. “The game at Boise State was a great win for the Horned Frogs, and our crew had a memorable call on it. It's terrific to see them recognized by their peers. They are the best in the business and outstanding ambassadors of TCU."
For the 2010 honors, the trio was cited for their work on TCU’s 45-10 win over Baylor, while they also picked up the award for their 2008 call of a 32-7 Horned Frog win over BYU.
TCU's radio broadcasts originate from flagship station WBAP 820 AM and 96.7 FM and are broadcast on 88.7 FM KTCU, as well.
The TAPB is a non-profit organization comprised of the various Texas radio and television stations who subscribe to the Associated Press wire service. The competition is divided by market size. TCU competes in the major market category of college and professional broadcasts.
The TAPB, in conjunction with similar groups in other states, organize and conduct contests and present awards for outstanding achievements in the field. Presented annually at the group's convention, these awards deliver well-deserved praise from a community of peers.
TCU's trio of Estridge, Denton and Williams will be presented their award at the TAPB Convention on March 31 at the Headliners Club in Austin.
