TCU honors athletes of the week

Fort Worth, TEXAS- The TCU Athletic Department announced the TCU Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's honors go to the equestrian team's Kindel Huffman and baseball's Sean Hoelscher.The Gulliver's Road Warrior of the Week award has been given to Macall Harkins of the woman's tennis team.
Kindel Huffman extended her record to 10-0 in Horsemanship and went 4-0 on the day helping the TCU equestrian team capture a close victory over Baylor last weekend. Her 4-0 performance set a new school record. She also tied her previous record of two MVPs in the same game, by earning honors in Horsemanship and Reining. Her current record of 10-0 is currently the best in the nation.
Freshman Sean Hoelscher tossed seven shutout innings against DFW rival UT-Arlington in his first collegiate start. Hoelscher allowed just four hits and struck out seven with no walks. He was also able to retire 12-of-the-last-14 batters he faced in the contest.
Macall Harkins, a junior transfer from Palos Verdes, Calif., went a combined 4-0 last week to lead No. 22 TCU to two wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Against No. 37 Wake Forest, Harkins defeated Christian Tara by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. In doubles play, Harkins and her partner Anna Sydorska routed the No. 27 duo of Alex Hirsch and Sasha Kulikova by a score of 8-3 to clinch the doubles point. Harkins also helped lead the Frogs against No. 28 VCU with a dominating 6-2, 6-0 victory of No. 121 Kateryna Yergina.
