FT. WORTH, Texas - TCU has announced its monthly award winners for March with sprinter Jackson Langat and Helena Besovic of the women's tennis team garnering the male and female student-athletes of the month, respectively. The accolades for TCU Scholar-Athletes of the Month went to Joe Brown of the men's track and field team and women's golfer Camille Blackerby.

Besovic, a senior from Sarajevo, Bosnia, posted a 10-0 record during the month of March. She is currently ranked No. 35 in singles in the ITA singles poll. She also holds the No. 11 spot while paired with freshman Anna Sydorska and the No. 59 ranking while paired with junior Ana Cetnik.

The 2006 NCAA indoor champion in the 800 meters, Langat became the first athlete at TCU to win the 800m indoor title. He set a personal-best 1:47.02 in the event to capture the individual crown. The senior from Kericho, Kenya, collected two All-America certificates at the NCAA Indoors championships - in the 800m and part of the 4x400 relay squad that finished eighth overall.

To be eligible for TCU Scholar-Athlete of the Month recognition, student-athletes must have a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average.

A sophomore from Overland Park, Kan., Brown holds a 3.80 GPA in business. He was elected by WB33 as part of the tv station's Scholar-Athlete of the Week on March 22. Brown set new javelin records in the Mountain West Conference and at TCU with a personal-best throw of 222-05 (67.79m) in the Frogs' outdoor season-opener at the Dr Pepper Invitational on March 25. For his performance, he garnered his first career league recognition as MWC Outdoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week on March 28.

Blackerby sports a 3.95 GPA as a major in mechanical engineering. The junior led the No. 35 TCU women's golf team to a pair of top-five finishes against very strong fields. She tied for 13th individually with a 233 tournament total at the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial and shared seventh place at the Betsy Rawls Invitational with a three-round score of 229.
