TCU Names Athletes of the Month

FORT WORTH, Texas - Matt Curry and Erin Lorenzen were name TCU Athletes of the Month, while Jason Coats and Sarah Scherer collected TCU Scholar-Athlete of the month honors.
Matt Curry, a senior first baseman from Red Oak, led the offense in homeruns with five, doubles with 11, and walks with 13 during the month of March. Curry had 25 hits and 22 RBIs while batting .379 during the month.
Erin Lorenzen earned All-American honors for the fourth straight year after helping guide the Horned Frogs to their first-ever NCAA National Championships. This year at the NCAA National Championships, Lorenzen was named Most Outstanding Performer after taking home a third place finish in air rifle and in smallbore.
Sarah Scherer claimed the NCAA Smallbore National Championship en route to helping the rifle team secure the NCAA National Championship. She was also named an all-american in air rifle and smallbore. During the NCAA National Championships, she also placed fifth individually in air rifle.
Jason Coats, a sophomore outfielder from Plano, led the team with 27 hits and 23 RBIs during the month of March. In helping guide the squad to a 13-4 record, Coats batted .386, posted an on-base percentage .413 and a slugging percentage of .643. Of the 27 hits Coats tallied, 12 went for extra bases, including nine doubles and three home runs.
