The TCU Athletics Department announced Jerry Hughes and Nina Munch-Soegaard as its Student-Athletes of the Month while Macall Harkins and Josh Bagby were selected as Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Jerry Hughes (Sugar Land, Texas | Austin High School)
Hughes guided the Frogs to a 4-0 record during the Month of October en route to being selected as The Sporting News Midseason All-American team. The TCU defensive end tallied nine sacks that resulted in a loss of 73 yards in four games.
Hughes was selected as both the Walter Camp Football Foundation and Football Writers' Association of American/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week after his four sacks and two forced fumble performance in a 32-7 victory over nationally-ranked BYU. The four sacks tied a Mountain West Conference record and were just shy of TCU's single-game mark (4.5 sacks).
