FORT WORTH - TCU has named swimmer Sabine Rasch and football linebacker Kris Gardner as Athletes of the Week.
Rasch set a TCU record in the 50-free at the Texas Invitational on Thursday. The Luckenwalde, Germany native swam a 22.84 in the 50-free to meet the NCAA “B” qualifying standard. This beats her previous best of 22.90 from last season.
She was also a member of the 200-free relay team that touched the wall in a season-best and Mountain West-best time of 1:32:89. The relay finished 10th overall. In the 100-free, Rasch clocked a 49.59 for another NCAA “B” cut.
Gardner, of Arlington, Texas, had the only take away for the Frogs against UNLV. He returned a 16-yard interception for a touchdown. It was the first interception return for a touchdown of Gardner’s career.
Gardner and the Frogs will head to San Diego, Calif., to take on Louisiana Tech in Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 21.
