TCU Athletes of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas – Amber Ramirez of women’s basketball and Kenrich Williams of men’s basketball have been named this week’s TCU Athletes of the Week.

Ramirez, a sophomore guard from San Antonio, Texas, scored a career-high 33 points in TCU’s 112-62 win over Southeastern Louisiana. It was the most points by a Horned Frog since Zahna Medley had 35 against Kansas on Feb. 13, 2013. She broke TCU and Big 12 records with 11 made 3-pointers and contributed to her team breaking the TCU and tying the Big 12 record with 18 3-pointers. Ramirez and the women’s basketball team will return to action Sunday when they host Northwestern State at 2 p.m.

Williams, a senior guard from Waco, Texas, scored a career-high 27 points and added nine rebounds and five assists in a 94-83 win over SMU. Williams was 5-of-6 from 3-point range, a career high for makes. He then recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds in an 84-80 win over No. 22 Nevada at the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Los Angeles. For the week, Williams averaged 21.5 points and 10.0 rebounds, while shooting 72.2 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from 3-point range.

Williams and the men’s basketball team return to Schollmaier Arena on Monday when they face Texas Southern at 8 p.m.
