The latest accolade to come his way is the distinction of the Carolina League's Pitcher of the Year. The right-handed pitcher recently returned from the Beijing Olympics with a bronze medal.

Frogs complete successful summer

A number of Horned Frog baseball players wrapped up successful summer campaigns and have returned to campus eager to start a new season. The three-time defending Mountain West Conference baseball team returns 22 members from last season and welcomes 12 newcomers, 11 of which are freshmen.

Varsity tops Alumni 3-1

In their annual match-up, the Varsity squad came away with a 3-1 victory over the Alumni Saturday night at the University Rec Center. The Alumni squad welcomed 14 members to the court, while the varsity squad introduced fans to seven new faces. Irene Hester was the leader of the pack Saturday as she finished with a match-high 17 kills. Newcomer Sarah Joeckel pitched in with nine kills on the night.
