TCU set to hit road for annual showdown with Aggies
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The TCU swimming and diving team will hit the road to face Texas A&M on Friday at the Rec Center Natatorium. The diving portion will begin at 12:45 p.m. while swimming events start at 2 p.m.
Most recently, TCU took its talents to Houston, where the women's squad went up against Rice and Houston in a multi-day competition. Multiple impressive performances were tallied by the Horned Frogs, as the team tallied a total score of 1077.5 points.
After the two-day event in Houston, Nina Vadovicova and Taylor Steelman brought home Big 12 weekly awards. Vadovicova was named the women's Co-Swimmer of the Week, while Steelman took home Newcomer of the Week honors.
TCU opened the season against Incarnate Word at home at the TCU Recreational Center. The men's team secured a 246.5-65.5 victory, while the women won 237-70. The Frogs won all but two events out of 34 total, and one new top-10 time was recorded during the meet.
Five individuals would secure conference weekly accolades, as Filip Suchanski (Men's Co-Swimmer of the Week), David Ekdahl (Men's Diver of the Week), Vadovicova (Women's Swimmer of the Week), Emma Larcada Herrera (Women's Diver of the Week) and Nicole Christensen (Women's Co-Newcomer of the Week) were the TCU representatives honored.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The Frogs' annual matchup with the Aggies comes with an unusual format, as the races will be contested in the order they are drawn out of a hat. The meet begins with the 200-yard medley relay, followed by a to-be-determined order of the 1,000 freestyle, 200 free, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 50 free heading to the break and then 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM after the intermission. The teams close out the meet with the 500 free and 200 free relay.
