TCU Horned Frogs
Learning Assistant Information/Criteria

It is our goal that Texas Christian University student-athletes receive every reasonable opportunity to develop the knowledge base and self-management skills necessary to for successful living. Toward that end, the AASO provides a variety of academic support services to student-athletes, including academic counseling, course registration assistance, supervised study programs, tutoring and learning assistants.

Learning assistants are integral to the success of this program. The purpose of the learning assistant is to help student-athletes help themselves or to assist or guide them to the point at which they become independent learners. Learning assistants have the opportunity to develop a close relationship with and be a significant influence on student-athletes. The AASO personnel are eager to help learning assistants face that responsibility in a way that will produce positive results.

Primary activities include working with students individually or in small groups to develop basic study skills, assisting students in improving subject matter competence, assisting students in developing a comprehensive study plan for a particular course, and attending scheduled training and meetings.
