COLUMBUS, OHIO - Two TCU shooters set personal bests in air rifle as the Horned Frogs finished third in the inaugural Patriot Rifle Conference Championships Sunday on the Ohio State campus.
Sally Li, who has been TCU's top shooter in both air rifle and smallbore all season, fired career-highs in air rifle (595) and aggregate score (1,173). She also had the top air rifle performance of all participants. Katie Bridges did the same with a 589 and 1,160 in those respective tallies. Allie Taschuk's 585 was also the second-best performance of her career.
Alaska-Fairbanks took the conference's first-ever title by shooting a 2,363 air rifle score. Combined with their 2,339 performance in smallbore, the Nanooks posted an aggregate score of 4,702. Air Force's 4,649 aggregate just edged TCU (4,647) for the runner-up spot. Meredith Carpentier led the Falcons on Sunday with a 592-point showing.
TCU finished second in Saturday's smallbore action with a 2,306-point showing, slipping past Ohio State and Air Force by a combined three points. Hannah Black's 581 in that discipline tied her previous personal-best. Megan Lee also had a 580 and Li posted a 578.
The Horned Frogs will return to action Sunday when they travel west to take on UTEP. TCU dropped the Miners, 4,635-4,516, back on Nov. 17.
