Rifle Regular-Season Winning Streak Stretches to 30

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU Rifle team reached the 4700-point plateau for the fourth time this season en route to a 4701-4644 win over Air Force Thursday at the TCU Rifle Range. The Horned Frogs won their 30th consecutive regular season match in a row to close the campaign undefeated at 11-0.

The Frogs had previously topped 4700 points in victories over Murray State, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

TCU boasted the top four shooters in smallbore, with Caitlin Morrissey leading the way with a 588, tying her career-high. Sarah Scherer shot a 581 to finish second, while Mattie Brogdon and Catherine Green tied for third after firing a 581. Pat Everson was Air Force's top shooter in with a 579. Claudia Duksa rounded out the TCU shooters, shooting a 567.

Air Rifle saw more of the same from the Frogs, who sported five of the top six scorers. Scherer remained undefeated in air rifle this season as she led all shooters with a 595. Morrissey completed a solid afternoon, finishing second with a score of 593 which tied her season-high. Sarah Beard fired a 591 for third place honor. Jaime Dowd (587) and Green (586) closed out the scoring for the Frogs. Shooting as an individual, Maggie Savage posted a career-high with a score of 581.

The two squads will square off again Saturday at the TCU Rifle Range for the NCAA Qualifier. The qualifier is one of the four scores used by the NCAA to determine the eight teams that will compete for the National Championship. The other three scores come from regular season action.
