Rifle Sits Sixth After Smallbore

FORT WORTH - The TCU rifle team sits in sixth place at the NCAA Championships after the smallbore competition. The Horned Frogs were paced on the firing line by Hannah Black's 582.
Black got the Frogs off to a solid start in the first relay as she fired a 582. In the second relay, the Horned Frogs sent Megan Lee and Sally Li to the line. Li turned in a solid score of 577 and was followed by Lee's 564. The two seniors, Jamie Dowd and Catherine Green, rounded out the five shooters for the Frogs. Both turned in identical scores of 575.
The Horned Frogs team score totaled 2,309 and sits sixth, four shots behind Nebraska's fifth place total of 2,313. West Virginia holds a commanding lead in the competition after firing a 2,338 to take home the Smallbore National Championship.
Alaskas-Fairbanks sits second with a score of 2,321 followed closely by Memphis' 2,320. Kentucky shot a 2,316 to find itself in fourth place. Rounding out the top eight were Jacksonville (2,306) and Army (2,299).
The competition concludes Saturday with the air rifle competition. The competition features two relays with the first one beginning at 8 a.m.
