Rifle Takes Tiger Open Title

FORT WORTH - The TCU women's rifle team opened up its season with a first-place finish at the Tiger Open hosted by Memphis. The Horned Frogs snagged a four-point (4,652-4,648) victory over Jacksonville State.

TCU fired off a 2,300 in smallbore and used a strong performance in air rifle to scratch out the victory. The squad shot a match-high 2,352 in air rifle.

Hannah Black was TCU's top shooter for the match, firing a career-high 581 in smallbore and a 589 in air rifle. The sophomore finished sixth in smallbore and third in air rifle.

Megan Lee turned in a 10th-place finish in smallbore with a 578. Also contributing to the team score were Sally Li (571), Jaime Dowd (570) and Catherine Green (569).

Kelly Bogart shot a career-high 573, while Allie Taschuk and Katie Bridges shot a 562.

Black and Li's performance in air rifle helped the Horned Frogs get off to a solid start in air rifle. Li tied for the top score with Memphis' Dan Hermsmeir after shooting a 592. Lee shot a 586 and was followed closely by Green who fired a 585. Dowd rounded out the counting squad with a score of 576.

Also stepping to the line were Taschuk (578), Bogart (576), Duksa (574) and Bridges (567).
