FORT WORTH, Texas - As it had in each of the first two weekends of the 2002-03 season, the TCU rifle squad again rewrote the school record book, setting four new marks in the 12th-annual Horned Frog Invitational, held October 4-6 and 11-13 at the TCU Rifle Range. Highlighting the record-setting performances for the Frogs were first-place finishes in the team air rifle and individual smallbore competitions.

TCU claimed its second air rifle title of the season by posting a school-record 1,550 to edge UTEP by eight points. The score easily bested the previous mark of 1,518, set Sept. 7 at Nevada. Leading the way for the Frogs was senior Stacy Hughes (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown), who placed second overall with a 392, breaking her own TCU record of 391, set Sept. 28 at Memphis.

In their first smallbore action of the season, the Horned Frogs also shattered a pair of school records en route to a second-place team finish. TCU totaled 4,504 in the competition, falling short of UTEP's first place mark of 4,581, but far surpassing the previous school record of 4,231, set Feb. 2 at Centenary. However, freshman Celeste Green (Lufkin, Texas/Hewitt) claimed the individual championship and school record with a 1,173. The previous school record of 1,116 was set by her sister Jessica Green on Sept. 8, 2001 at San Francisco.

Also making its mark in the competition was the TCU White squad, which took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the seven-team smallbore and air rifle fields. The team's 1,394 air rifle score was the best-ever tally by a TCU White group.

"For the first time in the 12 years that we have hosted this event, I feel that I can truly say that we took advantage of our 'home-field advantage,'" TCU Head Coach Roger Ivy said. "We did very well against a very strong field, which is what we need to do in order to achieve our goal of reaching our first-ever NCAA Championships."

TCU, which is also awaiting final results from this weekend's meet at Texas A&M, returns to action Nov. 2 at West Point, N.Y. versus Army.
