FORT WORTH, Texas - After a two-week layoff, the TCU rifle team returned to the range with a dominating victory over UTEP Saturday. The Horned Frogs set a new aggregate school record, defeating UTEP 4,687-4,600. Along the way, the Frogs also set a school-record in smallbore with a tally of 2,328.

"I'm pleased with the consistency the team has achieved the first two matches this season," remarked head coach Karen Monez. "Today's aggregate score is the performance level we are looking for."

TCU dominated the smallbore competition, winning 2,328-2,263. The top four shooters in smallbore belonged to TCU. Sarah Beard tied a personal best and took home first place honors with a score of 585. Sarah Scherer shot a 584 followed by Caitlin Morrissey's 580 and Mattie Brogdon's 579. Rounding out the Frog shooters was Catherine Green who shot a 563.

In air rifle, the Frogs handed the Miners a 2,359-2,337 defeat. Scherer fell one point shy of her career high, finishing first with a score of 595. Included in that total were three perfect rounds. Morrissey finished third with an impressive score of 590. Brogdon finished fifth after shooting a 588 and Green notched a sixth-place finish with a 586. Beard rounded out the Frog counters with a 580.

Also seeing action in air rifle were Christen Wilson (570), Jaime Dowd (569), Maggie Savage (566), Nicole Makrakis (565) and Alex Ferguson (541).

The Horned Frogs remain undefeated on the season. They will hit the road next week for a match at West Virginia on Oct. 24.
