TCU Finishes Second At Murray State
Oct. 27, 2014
FORT WORTH - TCU's highest smallbore score since the 2013 NCAA Qualifier was enough to defeat Murray State by one point, but the Horned Frogs fell to Jacksonville State 4,664-4,663 in a triangular match shot at Murray State Sunday. The three teams were separated by a mere two total points.
The 2,324 score in smallbore, first among the three teams, was last achieved on Feb. 16, 2013 when the Frogs fired a 2,329 score against Air Force in the NCAA Qualifier.
Hannah Black's 585 led all 15 shooters in the smallbore discipline. She joined Kelly Bogart (580), Katie Bridges (579) and Barrett Ray (569) as teammates to record personal-bests. Sally Li's 584 was one point off her career-high, while it was both her best performance of the season and second among all shooters on the day.
More personal-bests were achieved on the air rifle and aggregate fronts as well. Bogart tied her personal-best (587) in air rifle and posted a new plateau of 1,167 in aggregate. Nicholle Benedict's 580 and Katie Bridges' 1,163 were also new career-highs in each respective category.
The Horned Frogs' 2,339 was third in air rifle. Li's 591 was a high for the whole match, while Bridges followed up with a 584. Li shared the top honor with Jacksonville State's Brandon Muske and Murray State's Ivan Roe.
TCU will be back in action on Saturday for its second of three consecutive three-way matches, this time hosting Nevada and Jacksonville State. All three schools will do the same on Sunday as well.
