Rifle Scores Narrow Victory Over Ohio State

FORT WORTH – The TCU women’s rifle team stayed perfect on the season with an eight-point, 4,686-4,678, victory over Ohio State in El Paso. Casey Lutz finished second with a 1,174 aggregate score.

TCU built a 10-point cushion in smallbore, shooting a team score of 2,321. Sally Li led all shooters in the match with a 585, while Lutz shot a 581 to finish third and Ariana Grabowski shot a 579 to finish fourth. Rachel Garner contributed a 576 to the team score.

Ohio State took a two-point victory in air rifle, topping TCU’s team score of 2,365. Mindy Miles’ dominance in the discipline was once again on display as she fired a 597. She’s shot a 596 or better in all six matches this season. Lutz contributed a personal-best 593 to finish third. Garner also shot a 593 to place fourth. While not factoring in the team score, Rachel Kimbell fired a season-high 585 in air rifle.

Miles finished third overall in the match with a 1,172 aggregate score, while Garner rounded out the top five with an aggregate score of 1,169.

TCU is now 6-0 on the season. The Horned Frogs will return home to host a pair of matches against Air Force Nov. 11-12.
