Rifle Falls to No. 1 Alaska

FORT WORTH - A record day for Megan Lee was not enough for the TCU women's rifle team to overcome No. 1 Alaska. The Nanooks defeated the Horned Frogs 4,692-4,646 at the TCU Rifle Range.
Megan Lee turned in a solid performance, setting a personal best 590 (98-97-100-99-97-99) in air rifle and shooting a 584 in smallbore (191 kneeling, 197 prone, 196 standing) for a personal best aggregate score of 1174.
The Horned Frogs shot a season-high 2,318 in smallbore. Lee's mark of 584 paced the Frogs and was third among all shooters at the match. Sally Li matched her personal best with a 581 (192 kneeling, 199 prone, 190 standing) to finish fourth. Hannah Black contributed a 580 (192 kneeling, 199 prone, 189 standing) and Kelly Bogart fired a 573 (191 kneeling, 197 prone, 185 standing).
TCU turned in a 2,328 team score in air rifle. Lee's career-high of 590 tied for the third best score in the match. Li fired a 583 (97-95-96-97-99-99), while Catherine Green shot a 581 (95-96-99-97-96-98). Dowd rounded out the team counters with a 574 (97-96-96-95-95-95).
A pair of Frogs tallied career-high's in the match as Katie Bridges fired a 585 (97-98-98-98-96-98) as did Duksa (96-99-100-98-95-97). Bogart shot a season-high 579 (98-97-95-96-97-96). Black fired a 574. She was followed closely by Taschuk's 573. Shooting in just her second match of the season, Lydia McGarva fired a career-high 566.
The Horned Frogs have a busy upcoming weekend with a pair of matches. First up for the Frogs is a dual meet against Jacksonville State on Friday. Sunday will see the Frogs host a four-team invitational featuring Air Force, Jacksonville State and UTEP.
