KENTUCKY RESULTS

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A record-setting day for the TCU Rifle team saw the Horned Frogs extend their winning streak to 19 straight matches. The Frogs handed a previously undefeated Kentucky squad a 4,718-4,693 loss.

The aggregate score against the Wildcats shatters the previous school record of 4,708 set last week at Ohio State. The Frogs also matched the school record in smallbore, shooting a 2,348, while establishing a new record in air rifle after firing a 4,370.

TCU opened a sizable lead with a strong effort in smallbore, outshooting Kentucky 2,348-2,327. The Frogs posted four of the top five scores in smallbore. Sarah Scherer was the top shooter in the discipline, firing a 594 (198 prone; 197 standing and a 199 kneeling). Megan Lee finished third with a solid score of 587. She was followed closely by Caitlin Morrissey (584) and Sarah Beard (583) in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

While not factoring in the team aggregate, Hannah Black had a solid day at the range, shooting a personal-best 579 for a ninth place finish. Catherine Green finished 12th after shooting a 572.

The Frogs eked out a four-point victory in air rifle, topping Kentucky 2,370-2,366. Scherer placed second in the discipline after shooting a 596. Caitlin Morrissey fired a career-best 594 to place fourth. Sarah Beard claimed sixth place with a mark of 591.

Making her debut as one of the five scores to count in the team aggregate was Jamie Dowd. The junior made the most of her opportunity as she fired a career high 589 for an eighth place finish.

Kelly Bogart (586), Green (586) and Megan Lee (585) finished 12th-14th, respectively. Hannah Black shot a 579 and Allie Taschuk fired a 576.

TCU stretches its regular-season winning streak to 37 straight matches. It will take a break from competition, returning to the range on Jan. 19 when the Horned Frogs travel to Alaska for a pair of matches against the Nanooks.
