FORT WORTH -- The TCU women's rifle team closed out the fall season shooting a 4,713 at Army on Saturday. The Horned Frogs have fired a 4,707 or better in every match this season.
In air rifle, the team produced the fifth-highest mark in program history, shooting a 2,380. All four counters fired a 592 or better to help produce the mark. In smallbore, TCU shot a team score of 2,333.
The Horned Frogs produced the top five scores in air rifle. Mindy Miles set the tone in air rifle, shooting her fourth career 599. Casey Lutz tied her career high with a 596. Elizabeth Marsh finished fourth with a mark of 593 followed closely by Rachel Garner with a 592.
While not factoring in the team score, Barrett Ray turned in a career-high 594 to finish third in the discipline. Catherine Miller matched her career high with a 594 to finish fourth among all shooters.
Garner paced all shooters in smallbore with a 587. Miles finished second after firing a 586. Ariana Grabowski contributed a 581 and Lutz a 579.
Miles was the match's top shooter with an aggregate score of 1,185 followed by Garner with a 1,179. Lutz finished third with an aggregate score of 1,175 and Marsh a 1,171. Ray rounded out the top five with a season-high 1,171 aggregate score.
Army fired a team score of 4,642 including a 2,343 in air rifle and a 2,299 in smallbore. Payne Nunn was the Golden Knights top shooter in both disciplines, firing a 591 in air rifle and a 578 in smallbore.
TCU returns to collegiate action on Jan. 20 when it hosts a four-team match featuring Ohio State, the Coast Guard and Air Force.
