FORT WORTH – The No. 2 ranked TCU women’s rifle team resumes its season Saturday morning when it hosts No. 9 Air Force, Coast Guard and No. 6 Ohio State at the TCU Rifle Range. Action starts at 8:30 a.m.
TCU entered the winter hiatus with a solid victory at Army, firing a 4,713 aggregate score. The Horned Frogs are one of just two teams nationally to have surpassed the 4,700 plateau in every match this season. The Frogs rank second nationally in air rifle average (2,379), smallbore average (2,338) and aggregate score (4,718).
The Frogs top shooter is Mindy Miles who ranks fourth nationally with an aggregate average of 1,181.25. Miles tops the nation with a 598 average in air rifle, while Rachel Garner paces the team in smallbore, ranking sixth with an average of 585.12.
Air Force enters the weekend ranked ninth nationally. The Falcons rank eighth nationally with an aggregate average of 4,658, seventh in air rifle (2,355) and 10th in smallbore (2,303). Air Force is paced by Anna Weilbacher in both disciplines, posting an aggregate average of 1,168, a 590 in air rifle and a 577 in smallbore.
The Coast Guard averages an aggregate score of 4,520 helped by a season average of 2,244 in smallbore and a 2,276 in air rifle. Seth Strayer paces the Bears with an aggregate average of 1,139 and a 575 in air rifle. Grayson Wheeler is the top smallbore shooter at a 564 average.
Ohio State sits sixth in average aggregate (4,674), sixth in air rifle (2,360) and sixth in smallbore (2,313). Jacob Buchanan is the top shooter for the Buckeyes, pacing them in all three categories with an aggregate average of 1,171, a 591 air rifle average and a 580 smallbore average.
