FORT WORTH -- The TCU Rifle team will look to end its regular season on a good note when the Horned Frogs head west Saturday to take on UTEP.

A win would give the program its 40th consecutive regular season victory and third consecutive unbeaten regular season.

TCU is quite familiar with the Miners, having defeated them Oct. 20 in Fort Worth. It was a memorable day for Sarah Scherer, who set an NCAA smallbore record with her 596. She also led the way in air rifle with the same score.

The harsh weather two weeks ago at Alaska-Fairbanks proved to be no match for the Horned Frogs, who won 4,692-4,657 over the Nanooks. Catherine Green's 592 in air rifle was a season-high and Sarah Beard was named TCU Female Athlete of the Week as she won smallbore with a 591 and finished second behind Sarah Scherer in air rifle at 596.

Green has improved her air rifle tally in each of the last five matches, while Beard and Scherer have both shot in the 590s for every air rifle discipline on the season. Freshman Megan Lee (578) has proven to be a star in the making as she is currently third in smallbore behind Scherer (592) and Beard (585).

The Miners are coming off a trip to Murray State for the Withrow Open. Korina Rodriguez fired a season-best 1148 aggregate, while tying a career-high 587 in air rifle. Jennifer Armendariz shot 577 and 565 in air rifle and smallbore, respectively. Hannah Muegge also had her second-best outing of the year with a 568 in smallbore.
