Feb. 2, 2018

FORT WORTH – The TCU women’s rifle team heads to Colorado Springs and the Air Force campus to take part in the Patriot Rifle Conference championships. The Horned frogs are the defending league champions.

In 2016, the Horned Frogs took home the air rifle championship en route to a second place overall finish. In the inaugural season of the PRC in 2014, TCU finished third.

Competing will be, No. 9 Air Force, No. 5 Alaska, No. 7 Nevada, Ohio State and No. 20 UTEP. Saturday will feature the smallbore portion of the championships followed by air rifle on Sunday.

The Frogs are one of just two teams in the NCAA to have fired a 4,700 or better in every match this season. TCU ranks second in air rifle average (2,379) and smallbore average (2,337).

Mindy Miles paces the team in aggregate average at 1,181, a mark that ranks fourth nationally. She leads the nation in air rifle average at 598. Rachel Garner ranks sixth nationally in aggregate average at 1,179 and leads the team in smallbore average at 585, a mark that is also sixth nationally.
