Rifle To Finish Home Campaign Against Air Force

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU Rifle team looks to extend its winning streak to 30 matches when it hosts Air Force Thursday.

The Horned Frogs (10-0) are coming off back-to-back dominating wins at UTEP and at Air Force in each of the last two weeks. Against the Miners, Sarah Beard's 586 in smallbore and Sarah Scherer's 598 in air rifle led the way. TCU sported four of the top six scorers in smallbore, as well as having five of the top six in air rifle.

Scherer sits atop the TCU leaderboard for the season in both air rifle with an average score of 597 and smallbore with an average mark of 588. Beard follows her in each category with a 588 and 585, respectively.

In preparation for the upcoming national competitions, the Horned Frogs will field a slightly different line-up in each discipline Shooting for the Frogs in air rifle and factoring in the team score will be Beard, Caitlin Morrissey, Jaime Dowd, Catherine Green, and Claudia Duksa. Smallbore will feature Scherer, Morrissey, Duksa, Green, and Mattie Brogdon.

The Falcons have not shot in a competition since dropping a match in Colorado Springs to TCU on Feb. 4. Despite the loss, Air Force had a decent showing against the Frog. Pat Everson collected a career-high 1168 (582 in smallbore and a 586 in air rifle) aggregate score, while Meredith Carpentier led all air rifle Falcons with a 588 to finish fourth overall. Mike Seary posted a career-high of his own with a 587 in air rifle.

The match between the Frogs and the Falcons will be held at the TCU Rifle Range with the first relay beginning at 8:30 a.m.
