March 19, 2014
FORT WORTH - TCU freshman rifle team member Sally Li was named a CRCA All-American this past weekend at the NCAA Championships. She becomes the 19th All-American in program history and the seventh to earn All-American honors in both disciplines.
"Receiving three All-American selections her freshman year is a tremendous accomplishment for Sally," raved head coach Karen Monez. "Pushing to improve her scores throughout the season, Sally's scores were a significant contribution to the success achieved by the team."
Li earned second-team All-American honors in air rifle after pacing the squad with an average score of 588 in her debut campaign on the collegiate rifle range. She broke the 590 plateau seven times this season, including a career-best 595 at the PRC Championships on Feb. 8.
She was also tabbed an honorable mention All-American in smallbore. Once again, she paced the squad with an average score of 578 per match. Her career-best of 585 came against UTEP on Feb. 16.
New to the postseason honors this year, the CRCA also honored shooters for their overall match score. Li was one of 15 selections to the inaugural team. Her average aggregate score of 1166 earned her a spot on the third-team.
TCU has had an All-American each of the last eight seasons.
