Rifle Represents At World Cup

Sarah Scherer earned a bronze medal at the World Cup.

FORT WORTH -  TCU women's rifle was well-represented at the Women's Rifle World Cup in Fort Benning, GA. Sally Li and former TCU Horned Frogs Sarah Scherer, Erin Lorenzen, and Sarah Beard all participated in the event.

Li competed in both air rifle and smallbore for Singapore, while Scherer and Lorenzen shot for USA in the smallbore event. Beard was in an MQS slot for USA. The MQS is a spot where you are not competing for medals but have opportunity to earn a Minimum Qualifying Score required for competition in the Olympics.

In Air Rifle, Li finished 45th overall with a combine score of 405.9. Her highest series of 10 was her third string in which she shot 103.3. Li then placed 30th in smallbore with a score of 572.

The alumni also had a strong showing at the World Cup. Scherer earned a bronze medal. She qualified for the finals in sixth place after shooting a 583. She moved onto the podium after shooting a 447.2 in the finals. Lorenzen finished her smallbore competition with a scored of 580; earning her a 12th place finish.
