FORT WORTH - The TCU rifle team recently volunteered at the 2012 Fort Worth Clay Shoot to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters.

"The event was a wonderful opportunity for the team to not only talk about the shooting sports, but also to educate the participants on the importance of gun safety and making certain that kids stay safe around firearms at all times," said head coach Karen Monez.

The event was a tremendous success as it raised in excess of $59,850 and had a total of 150 shooters, a new record for this event. Eighteen of the children mentored by Big Brothers Big Sisters came out to enjoy the day. The TCU rifle team presented a demonstration and discussed Olympic-style rifle shooting events.

The defending National Champions kick off the 2012-13 season on Sept. 30 at Ole Miss. The Frogs' first home match of the campaign is slated for Oct. 20 against UTEP. TCU returns four of the five members who helped the Horned Frogs claim their second title in the last three years.
