FORT WORTH - The TCU rifle team will look to build on its record-breaking performance last week when it travels to Charleston, S.C., to take on No. 7 Jacksonville State, No. 16 Columbus State, and host The Citadel on Saturday.

Last weekend at the Ole Miss Invitational, the Horned Frogs set team records in team aggregate (4,707) and smallbore (2,346). The tournament continues this weekend in Oxford, but theHorned Frogs own a sizable lead atop the scoreboard. Jacksonville State and Columbus State also competed in Oxford last weekend.

Sarah Scherer picked up right where she left off in her brilliant 2011-12 campaign, taking both the air rifle and smallbore individual titles with a 598 and 595, respectively. The combined aggregate score of 1,193 is believed to be an NCAA record.

The Horned Frogs also got a pleasant surprise in freshman Megan Lee, who in her first collegiate outing finishedsecond in smallbore (586) and fourth in air rifle (588). Both scores were personal bests for Lee. Sarah Beard fired a 584 in smallbore for third-place honors and came in second in air rifle with a personal-best score of 597.

Jacksonville State fired a team aggregate score of 4,651 in Oxford last weekend. It was led by Sam Muegge, who fired a 592 in air rifle and a 575 in smallbore. Monica Fyfe is capable of putting up a solid air rifle after shooting a 588 last week. Dan McCall is the leading shooter in smallbore with a mark of 579.

Columbus State has competed three times this year. The Cougars have improved their score in each succeeding tournament. Last weekend, it shot a 4,575 (2254, smallbore and 2321, air rifle). Columbus State is led by Abby Casey who finished sixth overall in air rifle at Ole Miss after shooting a 587.

The Citadel has competed twice this season, posting a win and a second place finish. It defeated VMI in its opening competition and finished second at the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match. Richard Hunton is coming off a career-best 579 in air rifle, which was goodenough for a fourth-place finish.
