FORT WORTH - The TCU Rifle team will look for its third consecutive win to begin the 2012-13 campaign when it hosts UTEP Saturday morning in the Horned Frogs' home opener.

TCU has reached the 4700-point plateau in each match this season, most recently a 4702-4644 victory over Jacksonville State on Oct. 6 in Charleston, S.C. Columbus State came in third while host Citadel's co-ed and women's team rounded out the last two spots. It was the Horned Frogs' 33rd consecutive regular season victory dating back to 2009, and was their 15th victory in a row overall.

Sarah Scherer, Sarah Beard, and Caitlin Morrissey took the top three slots in both disciplines on the Atlantic coast. Freshman Megan Lee also finished in the top ten for both disciplines.

In air rifle, Scherer narrowly missed a perfect score with a 598, while Morrissey's 593 was a season-high. Lee fired a 588, marking the second straight week she shot a personal-best. For smallbore, Scherer notched a 589 while Beard (586) and Morrissey (581) followed suit.

The Miners have one match under their belt this season, falling to both Jacksonville State and Nevada on Sunday. They shot a 2266 in air rifle and a 2230 in smallbore for a 4496 aggregate.

Jennifer Armendariz was UTEP's top air rifle shooter on the day at 588, while Korina Rodriguez and Hannah Muegge recorded scores of 575 and 571, respectively. Rodriguez's 572 was the team's high in smallbore, Armendariz posted a 568 and Muegge shot a 561.

The Horned Frogs will once again take a two-week hiatus following their match with UTEP, returning to action Nov. 3 at home against UTEP.
