Rifle Welcomes No. 1 Alaska Saturday

FORT WORTH - The TCU women's rifle team continues their four-match homestand Saturday at the TCU Rifle Range. The Horned Frogs, ranked 10th in the latest poll, will play host to No. 1 Alaska- Fairbanks.

TCU is coming off its first duel match of the season last weekend against Kentucky. The Horned Frogs posted a team aggregate score of 4,635, which is 15 points lower than its season average.

In air rifle, the Horned Frogs are led by the duo of Hannah Black and Sally Li who each have a 587 average through the first five matches of the season. Megan Lee is TCU's go-to shooter in smallbore, averaging a 579 for the season.

Head coach Karen Monez has used the trio of Black, Lee and Li as the core of her counting team in both disciplines this season. Jaime Dowd and Catherine Green have each had their turn this season have posted strong averages in air rifle at 581 and 584, respectively. Kelly Bogart has shown improvement each match this season and ranks fourth on the squad with a 572 smallbore average.

Alaska has a veteran squad that has been ranked No.1 in all but one poll this season. Ryan Anderson is the top shooter on the squad in both smallbore and air rifle. Joining Anderson in Fort Worth this weekend will be Mats Eriksson, Dan Geer, Mike Liuzza, Tim Sherry and Lorelie Stanfield.

The Nanooks are coming off a one-point victory against Jacksonville on Thursday. Both teams fired an identical score in air rifle, while Alaska earned its winning margin with a one-point victory in smallbore. Anderson shot a match-high 586 in smallbore, while Sherry led all shooters with a 594 in air rifle.
