Preview: At Army

FORT WORTH – The TCU women’s rifle team will wrap up their fall season Saturday at Army. The Horned Frogs enter the weekend as one of only two teams nationally to have fired a 4,700 or better in every match this season.

TCU ranks second nationally with its aggregate average of 4,719. Additionally, it’s smallbore average of 2,339.14 and 2,379.86 in air rifle also rank second in the nation.

Individually, Mindy Miles paces the team and ranks fourth nationally with an aggregate average of 1,180.71. She paces the NCAA with a 597.86 average in air rifle. Along with Miles, Casey Lutz is the only other Horned Frog to post scores of 590 or higher in air rifle in every match. Elizabeth Marsh and Rachel Garner have reached the 590 plateau in all but one match.

Garner is TCU’s top smallbore shooter with an average of 584.86. She has fired a 580 or higher in every match this season. Marsh has reached the 580 plateau in all but one match.

As a team, Army averages a team score of 4,642, including a 2,339 in air rifle and a 2,302 in smallbore. Payne Nunn is the Golden Knights top shooter with an aggregate average of 1,165. Kaitlyn Kutz paces the squad in air rifle with an average of 588.5, while Nunn’s 579 smallbore average tops the team.
