FORT WORTH, Texas - Men's swimmer Adam Szilagyi and women's rifle shooter Sally Li are the Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week for Nov. 18, TCU Athletics announced today.
Szilagyi, a sophomore from Hungary, won three individual titles and was on the winning 200-yard medley relay team as TCU defeated SMU for the first time in the program's history. His solo victories came in the 100-yard backstroke (49.64), the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.81) and the 200-yard IM (1:55.54). He was joined by Cooper Robinson, Ford Story and Anthony McMurry for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:32.22) that began the meet.
The Horned Frogs will return to the water Thursday, when the men's and women's teams begin the Aggie Invitational in College Station.
Li led TCU in its two-match sweep last weekend of Jacksonville State and UTEP. On Friday against the Gamecocks, she recorded a personal-best 1,172 aggregate score, including a 591 in air rifle which was best among all shooters and a 581 smallbore score which tied for the lead. Two days later, the freshman from Singapore once again led both teams in air rifle (589) and smallbore (577) as the Horned Frogs defeated the Miners.
TCU will look to avoid revenge at the hands of JSU Saturday, when the two teams square off in Jacksonville, Ala.
