FORT WORTH – TCU got a strong performance from senior Edgar Crespo, but SMU was able to knock off the Horned Frogs on Thursday, 178-120.

Crespo shined once again while swimming inside the TCU University Recreation Center Natatorium for the final time. He clocked a 55.82 in the 100-breast and a 2:03.26 in the 200-breast for individual wins in both events.

The Panama City, Panama, native capped off a storied TCU dual-meet career that saw him go undefeated in the 100-breast while wearing a Frog uniform. This season, Crespo was undefeated in both events.

Sophomore Michael Franz turned in a solid showing on the evening for the Frogs, claiming a win in the 1000-free. The Carmichael, Calif., native clocked a 9:32.17 in the event and also added second-place finishes in the 500-free (4:38.24) and 400-individual medley (4:07.67).

Freshman Cooper Robinson picked up a win in the 200-back to continue his run of steady performances. The Katy, Texas, native clocked a 1:48.46. The Frogs also won the meet’s final event, the 400-free relay in 3:07.51.

TCU dropped to 6-3 this season, while SMU improved to 2-1. It was the first time the Frogs had been defeated in their home pool since Oct. 30, 2008.

The Frogs now turn their sights toward the Conference USA Invitational on Feb. 15-18 in Houston. With the Mountain West not sponsoring men’s swimming in 2011-12, TCU is traveling to that event.
