TCU Falls in Regular Season Finale

AUSTIN, Texas – TCU swimming and diving wrapped up the regular season on Friday against No. 8/5 Texas. The men fell 162-105, while the women fell 159-108.

TCU took the top three spots in the men’s 50 free, with Ryan Whelan finishing in 22.39, Matt Spallas in 22.41, and Weston Miller in 22.80. TCU’s women took the top three spots in the 100 fly, with Catherine Maxey finishing in 58.45, Devin Newton in 1:02.90, and Lauren Halliburton in 1:03.53.

In the men’s 100 fly, Tommy Thach finished first in 51.89.

Carlos Hunnicutt clocked in a first place time of 1:55.84 in the men’s 200 IM, while Ally Robertson won the women’s 200 IM in 2:09.56.

Maddie Ibrahim finished second in the 200 back, clocking in at 2:08.33.

TCU took home the win in the women’s 200 free relay, consisting of Emily Gibson, Maxey, Rileigh Thornton, and Taylor Newton. The tandem recorded a 1:41.17 mark.

TCU will take the next three weeks to begin preparations for the Big 12 Championships. The conference meet is scheduled for Feb. 21-24 in Austin.
