AUSTIN, Texas -- The TCU men's 200 medley relay team set a new school-record Wednesday on the first day of the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas.

"We have had some awfully good swimmers come through our program and to have those kids set a school record is a really, really neat thing for us," TCU head coach Richard Sybesma said.

Cooper Robinson, Ford Story, Corey Nix and Josh Mangus posted the new standard of 1 minute, 28.13 seconds, just breaking the old record of 1:28.17 set in 2012.

With the third-place finish in the event, along with a strong showing in men's diving, the Frog men sit in second place in the team standings, while the women's team is in fifth.

"We feel good about our day today," Sybesma said. "We are looking forward to Thursday with the individual swimming events. We are OK sitting in second and fifth after the first day."

Ricky Bradley (293.85) led the divers with an eighth-place finish.

"Our divers did a good job," Sybesma said.

In other notable performances on Day One: The 800-yard free relay team (Sebastian Arispe, Anthony McMurry, Mangus and Thor Stenfjord) placed third at 6:36.04, while the women's 800 free relay team (Lyndsie Gibson, Mikayla Winkler, Mackenzie Schuler and Julie Grace Sanders) placed fourth at 7:19.45.

The meet continues at 10 a.m. Thursday with the preliminaries, while women's diving gets underway at noon. The finals in the women's 3-meters is set for 5 p.m. and additional finals begin at 6 p.m.
