March 29, 2014
AUSTIN, Texas -- TCU's Cooper Robinson finished 29th in the preliminaries of the 200 backstroke at the Lee and Joe Jamail Swimming Center at the University of Texas to close out his inaugural appearance in the NCAA Championships.
Robinson, who is TCU's first male swimmer since Edgar Crespo to compete at the championships, posted the time of 1:42.94 in the event Saturday.
"With this being his first NCAA Championships the experience he gained will be huge for his senior season," TCU swimming coach Richard Sybesma said. "Experience is so valuable."
In addition to the 200 back, Robinson competed in the 100 back Friday and finished 42nd in the preliminaries with the time of 47.86.
Robinson, who finished fourth in the 200 back at the 2014 Big 12 Championships, qualified for the national meet by posting the time of 1:42.33, which is also the school record.
