#SwimDive Wraps Up Day One at FIU

Oct. 6, 2017

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. --TCU's men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed on day one at the FIU Fall Classic hosted by Florida International on Friday afternoon. The meet followed the two-day classic format, with each team getting nine swimmers and two divers.

Freshman Joao Andrade was the bigger winner for the Horned Frogs on Friday, picking up the win in the men's 200 freestyle with a mark of 1:40.55.

"Joao has come in knowing that as a freshman, he's a part of the transition and change of the culture," head coach Sam Busch said. "His work ethic stands out and it was evident in the way he raced today."

In the men's 400 individual medley, Carlos Hunnicutt finished fourth with a mark of 4:09.19, just .04 seconds behind third place.

In the women's 100 butterfly, Micaela Roemer finished fourth with a time of 57.59, while sophomore sprinter Claire Munster finished fourth in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 24.38.

"Overall, I'm not concerned about times as much as I am about the details," Busch said. "They're racing tough, but everyone is learning how to race focused on those details. Better times will come with more reps."

"I'm looking forward to tomorrow and seeing our athletes display their versatility. Our two relays going tomorrow, the 200 medley and 400 free, can be strengths of ours. We have a lot of options there. Tomorrow is going to be more taxing and we're going to see how we respond when being race fatigued."

The Horned Frogs will return to action on Saturday for day two of the meet, starting at 11 a.m. ET.
