Oct. 7, 2017

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The men’s and women’s swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the FIU Fall Classic on Saturday. The men’s team finished the meet fourth overall, while the women finished sixth.

Joao Andrade, Friday’s lone winner, recorded third place finishes in the 500 freestyle (4:36.71) and 100 freestyle (46.82). Freshman Radu Duican finished third in the men’s 200 backstroke, recording a 1:53.99 mark. Carlos Hunnicutt finished third in the 200 butterfly with a mark of 1:54.73.

Women’s 400 freestyle relay tandem of Claire Munster, Elise Forzley, Emily Gibson, and Micaela Roemer finished fourth with a mark of 3:32.62.

“Today went well,” head coach Sam Busch said. “I think overall we keep improving in terms of racing with details and racing when fatigued. We still have room to improve and that’s what makes this season so exciting as it begins to unfold.”

The Horned Frogs return to action when the men’s team hosts SMU on Oct. 25 at home. The women will compete on Oct. 28 at home when they open Big 12 competition against Kansas.
