Oct. 25, 2017

FORT WORTH – The TCU men’s swimming and diving team hosted the SMU Mustangs on Wednesday night in the TCU Rec Center. The Horned Frogs won two events in a 184-114 loss.

PAIR OF WINS
Freshman Joao Andrade picked up his second individual win of the season. After winning the 200 free at the FIU Classic, Andrade won the event again with a mark of 1:41.29.

“I’m seeing improvement every day from Joao,” head coach Sam Busch said. “He’s a guy that’s talented and can get better by refining the details. He’s definitely a young leader.”

In the men’s 100 breast, senior Jakub Swierczynski clocked in with a 57.52 mark and won the event. Andrade and Swierczynski teamed up with Radu Duican and Matthew Brewer in the 400 free relay and finished second (3:08.38).

Duican finished second in four events on the night, including the 100 free (47.61) and 100 backstroke (51.41).

BUSCH’S THOUGHTS
"I think we’re continuing to race tough and racing when we’re tired is not easy to do. I think our details are getting better every day. We just have to move on to tomorrow for our next day of training."

UP NEXT
The men’s team will return to action on Nov. 10, against Iowa State for the Big 12 opener. The women’s team opens up Big 12 competition against Kansas on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the TCU Rec Center. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m.
