Another Successful Day for the Frogs
Dec. 5, 2003
Austin, Texas - Add another two events to the growing list the H20 Frogs are compiling this weekend in Austin: freshman Karen Sandifer made the NCAA B-cut in the 200-yard free during the UT Invite prelims. Junior Craig Chapman made the cut twice over today in the 100-yard backstroke prelims to precede his B-cut time in the 100-meter backstroke final.
The Texas Invitational is widely known for being one of the fastest meets in the country, and the Horned Frogs kicked it into high gear for the contest. A three-day meet spanning from Thursday, Dec. 4 through Saturday, Dec. 6, the competition supplies the swimmers both the collegiate and the Olympic versions of each event to accommodate the 2004 Olympics.
Chapman's two qualifying times accompany yesterday's nationally-qualifying 400-meter medley relay team of that he was a part. Today's 100-yard back passed in 50.20 and the 100-meter back went by in 58.00, good for seventh place amongst potential Olympians. Sandifer swam her event, the 200-yard free, in 1:51.57.
The Frogs had many top-25 finishes to complement the qualifying times. The competition continues all day tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 6.
