TCU Men Earn Elite Pro-Am Gold in 400-Medley Relay

RESULTS

OKLAHOMA CITY – The TCU men's and women's swimming teams impressed Saturday at the 18th Annual Chesapeake Elite Pro Am in Oklahoma City, Okla., on the campus of Oklahoma City Community College.

On the men’s side, the Horned Frogs’ 400-medley relay squad of Jeff Gettel, Edgar Crespo, Edgar Peyro and Josh Bagby teamed up to earn first place honors with a finals time of 3:24.84. Crespo registered the top solo finish, taking third place accolades in the 200-breast with a clocking of 2:04.56 in the finals. The Panama City, Panama product recorded an 8th place finals showing in the 200-IM behind teammates Andy Garcia-Montes (4th - 1:52.75) and Peyro (5th - 1:53.89).

Bagby got the best of former Frog standout Jonathan Berrettini in the 50-free, outlasting by one-tenth of a second to place seventh and eighth respectively. Berrettini highlighted his evening by placing fourth in the 100-back, four spots ahead of Gettel’s eighth place performance at 51.31.

On the women’s side, TCU’s quartet of Brittney Martinez, Megan Higginbotham, Jennifer Oster and Ashley Bolin claimed fifth place honors with a time of 3:59.66 in the finals. Bolin also took fourth in the 200-IM after tapping the wall at 2:06.74. Other top performances include Kristi Dena’s 13th place output in the 50-free, while Higginbotham and Martinez earned 13th place finishes in the 200-breast and 100-back, respectively.

The Frogs will return to the water Sunday to conclude the fall season, competing in the 200-back, 100-free, 200-fly, 50-fly, 200-free relay and 1650 free.
