FORT WORTH -- TCU has announced that men's basketball guard Thomas Montigel and women's swimmer Ali Bleasdell are its Scholar-Athletes of the Month for December.

Montigel has picked up where he left off from last year, when he was a second-team Academic All-Big 12 selection. He had his best performances of the season in back-to-back wins over Grambling State and Tulsa, including career-highs of seven points and four rebounds against GSU on Dec. 19. He also made both of his field-goal attempts and all three of his free-throws. Two days later, the senior from Paschal High School in Fort Worth played a season-high 20 minutes in TCU's win over Tulsa, where he also contributed six points.

Montigel is a finance major.

Bleasdell was the Horned Frogs' top point scorer in the women's 213-151 dual meet victory over Missouri State. She had 27 points on her own while contributing 33 points through three relay teams. The junior from Missouri City, Texas, was also part of the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay teams at the event which set facility records. She also has the 200 and 400 IM school records and is one piece of TCU's record-holding 200 and 400 medley relay teams.

Bleasdell is a film, television, and digital media major.
