TCU Outshines Manhattan

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU swimming and diving team outshined Manhattan on Friday, Jan. 10 in Miami, Fla., earning a pair of dual meet wins. The TCU men won 114-93 while the women earned a 102-88 win. The pair of victories for the Horned Frogs wrapped up the teams weeklong winter break training trip in Florida.

On the women’s side, junior Ashley Alspaugh led off the individual events with a win in the 200-yard freestyle while sophomore transfer Lyndsie Gibson placed first in the 200 IM, 2:11.11. Mackenzie Schuler won the 50-yard freestyle (25.15), Julie Grace Sanders added a win in the 100-yard butterfly (59.73) and Aly Davis took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.62).

In women’s diving, sophomore Kristen Connolly paced the Horned Frogs, notching the best scores from the 1-meter (286.20) and 3-meter boards (272.40).

For the men, junior Josh Mangus posted a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:47.76) while freshman Garrett Hills placed first in the 200 IM, 2:01.75. Chris Hearl won the 50-yard freestyle (22.09), Ryan Wilcox added a win in the 100-yard butterfly (54.49) and August Van Allen notched the best time in the 100-yard freestyle (49.02). Freshman Jake Powell rounded out the top finishes with a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a 55.05.


 

 

In men’s diving, Ricky Bradley led from both boards, posting a 331.80 from 1-meter and a 339.23 from 3-meters.

The Horned Frogs return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 when they host West Virginia in the TCU Rec Center Natatorium beginning at 1 p.m. It will be the last home meet of the season for TCU, who will honor the seniors in a pregame ceremony.
