TCU Hosts West Virginia on Senior Day

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU swimming and diving team hosts Big 12 foe West Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the University Recreation Center Natatorium beginning at 1 p.m.
It marks the final home meet of the season for the Horned Frogs, who will honor the careers of 10 seniors in a pre-meet ceremony. Sebastian Arispe, Luiz Azarias, Emily Rose Creighton, Michelle Fleming, Michael Franz, Katelin Hatcher, Gabi Korac, Ali Polhill, Ryker Saunders and Ryan Wilcox will all be recognized for their contributions to the program.
“I am proud of how our team is training and competing,” said head coach Richard Sybesma. “The senior we are honoring in this meet have made huge contributions to our program.”
It marks the first Big 12 dual of the season for the TCU men, who enter Saturday’s meet with a 2-2 record in dual meet competition this season. The Horned Frog men most recently defeated Manhattan College, 114-93, as part of their winter break training in Miami. TCU’s Cooper Robinson enters the meet as the reigning Big 12 Men’s Swimmer of the Week, earning the honor for his 22 points scored against Missouri State.
The TCU women enter Saturday’s meet looking to extend their Big 12 dual meet dominance. The Horned Frogs are 4-2 on the season, including a 2-0 mark in the Big 12. TCU most recently defeated Manhattan, 102-88, in dual meet action in Miami.
The Mountaineers enter Saturday’s dual off of a pair of home losses in dual meet action against Pittsburgh on Jan. 11. The women’s team lost to the Panthers 179-119 while the men’s team fell 161-139.
In the last meeting between the two teams, the Horned Frogs edged the Mountaineers to earn their first Big 12 dual meet wins in program history. The men’s team won 160-131 while the women’s team earned a 160-140 victory.
