COLORADO SPRINGS – TCU’s women’s swimming and diving team landed seven on the Swimming and Diving All-Conference Team, the Mountain West office announced Tuesday.
Those named to the all-conference team finished in the top eight of an individual event at last week’s Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships. Relays were honored for finishing in the top three.
Junior Sabine Rasch led the TCU honorees with selection in three events. The Luckenwalde, Germany native was selected for her finishes in the 50-free, 100-free and 200-free, where she set TCU records in each. A year ago, Rasch was an All-MW selection in two events.
Amanda Vincent, a sophomore, was an All-MW selection in the 100-fly and 200-fly for the second-straight year. The Woodbridge, Va., native set a TCU record in the finals of the 200-fly and just missed out on Mountain West top honors for the event.
Sophomore Gabi Korac was honored in the 100-breast and 200-breast. It was the first two selections of Korac’s TCU career. She set program all-time marks in both events. Freshman Victoria Thicke-Rattray was selected for her finishes in the 200-individual medley and 400-individual medley.
Michelle Fleming was honored for the second-straight year in the 200-breast, while junior Katie Scarsella picked up her first individual all-conference selection in the 200-free. Freshman Ali Bleasdell was an honoree in the 200-fly.
At the 2012 MW Championships, TCU set 14 school records, including breaking all five relay records for the second-straight year. The Frogs also grabbed 10 NCAA “B” qualification standards.
The TCU women’s team was also recently honored as a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for its work in the classroom. Given to squads that obtain a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or better, the fall 2011 semester was the 38th in a row that TCU has been honored.
